Board of DirectorsThe Swan Island board includes Charles Jennings and Pete O’Dell in addition to those listed below: General Merrill “Tony” McPeakGeneral McPeak has been the President of McPeak and Associates, an international aerospace consulting firm, since January 1995. He spent 37 years in the United States Air Force, and was Chief of Staff from October 1990 to October 1994, when he retired. He is also a member of the Boards of Directors of Tektronix, Inc., Praegitzer Industries, Inc., TWA, Inc. and ECC International Corp., where he serves as Chairman of the Board. General McPeak entered the Air Force in 1957 as a distinguished graduate of the San Diego State College ROTC program. He has commanded an Air Force wing, a numbered Air Force and, before becoming Air Force chief of staff, commanded the Pacific Air Forces, a major command. He is a command pilot, having flown more than 6,000 hours, principally in fighter aircraft. He flew two years as a solo pilot for the elite aerial demonstration team, the Thunderbirds, and flew as an attack pilot and high-speed forward air controller in Vietnam. Milton R. SmithMilton Smith was Chairman, President and CEO of Floating Point Systems Inc., and served on the board of 12 companies including ThrustMaster and Floating Point. Smith has served as Chairman of the Oregon Council of the AEA, member of the AEA National Board, on the Oregon Business Council, on the boards of six other non-profit organizations, and as Executive Director and CEO of the Oregon Health Sciences Foundation. He is president of Smith Investments, an investment and consulting firm. Jon DenneyJon Denney is the owner and president of Portland Nursery, rated one of the top 100 retail nurseries in the nation. Denney expanded the business to a second retail location in 1990 and added a farm (1996). Denney and the company are deeply involved in the community in numerous ways, most notably by supporting schools, Habitat for Humanity, Plant a Row for the Hungry, and Oregon Public Broadcasting. Portland Nursery has been OPB’s longest-running underwriter, and Denney is co-Chair of Oregon Business Partners, a development organization for OPB. In addition to fostering knowledge through classes and seminars, the nursery published Warren Manhart’s authoritative book Apples for the 21st Century in 1995. Portland Nursery won the Oregon and Western Washington Better Business Bureau’s Business Integrity Award in 2000. |
