Swan Island Networks Announces New Technology, New Partners and New Managed Service Model for Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)

TIES integrates ERM silos, supports expert Communities of Trust

PORTLAND, OR —September 4, 2007—Swan Island Networks, Inc., a recognized leader in trusted information exchange services, is releasing TIES 3.0, the breakthrough software platform for integrated risk management and advanced Community of Trust (COT) operations.

“Swan Island Networks has created an important new model for managing critical security information. Its TIES managed service helps solve one of the core challenges in Enterprise Risk Management: How do you integrate various information sources, including sensitive information, for safety and security?” said Paul Kurtz, a partner in Good Harbor Consulting, former senior director for critical infrastructure protection on the White House’s Homeland Security Council, and National Security Council member. “By combining both open source and proprietary information about everything from routine asset protection to fast-breaking external threats, organizations can integrate various risk management functions and thereby help manage them more effectively.”

TIES is delivered as an Internet managed service that supports both internal enterprise risk management consolidation, and external connections into public/private partnerships and security-oriented communities. TIES delivers mission-critical and sensitive information to the right safety and security professionals at the right time, so that organizations, government agencies and commercial enterprise can focus on required actions and response, rather than on the maintenance and improvement of rapidly evolving ERM technologies. U

niquely, TIES provides authorized community members with both a basic information service, complete with dozens of open source information feeds—and optional proprietary information “channels” that provide either high-value security and emergency intelligence, or unique Web-oriented capabilities.

TIES’ new premium content providers include Comprehensive Intelligence Technology Training (CINTT), a security, intelligence and analysis company; iSIGHT Partners, the global risk mitigation firm that provides intelligence-fused services to protect critical corporate assets, including sensitive data, intellectual property and targeted facilities; TrafficGauge, the premier source for 24-hour real-time traffic information; and NC4, provider of dynamically updated incident alerts that come from thousands of global information sources including on-line dispatch, terrorism, fire, aviation, hazmat, transportation and more.

With TIES, authorized subscribers use customizable dashboards and dynamic gadgets, accessed in a high-trust, high-assurance environment. TIES provides information from many confidential and/or proprietary sources by leveraging the company’s SwitchGate™ data translation engine—and by working with industry partners who appreciate Swan’s trusted distributor business model. (Swan Island provides a Software as a Service offering only, and does not produce content of its own.)

TIES aggregates disparate open source and private information, alerts and other relevant data—and then provides targeted dissemination of that information, ensuring that critical information reaches the correct subscribers.

“This is the first really integrated, open-source approach to proactive threat management on a global scale,” said John Watters, CEO of iSIGHT Partners. “It’s an ideal platform for presenting our highly targeted security intelligence with pertinent physical alerts. And it’s in real-time, anywhere in the world—essential in this rapidly evolving market.”

A highlight of the new release is TIES Mobile, which extends TIES’ core capabilities to a high-trust, customized application running on Windows Mobile 6 platform—providing device authentication, data aggregation, and enhanced GPS-based targeting and alerting.

TIES also supports the creation and management of COTs in which authenticated stakeholders share or exchange information around specific concerns, like avian flu, and ongoing needs, such as transportation security. Subscribers can belong to multiple TIES Communities, and can manage their own unique TIES interface, receiving the information they want—and that information only.

“TIES introduces two critical improvements,” said Carl Simpson, Executive Director, Denver 9-1-1, and a national expert on emergency communications. “For the first time, emergency managers can reach people where they are, by using the Web and mobile applications,” he said. “And it’s easy to add people on the fly, so your Community of Trust can expand as it needs to, very quickly. And all of this information is still highly secure, still protected.”

"TrafficGauge is pleased to become a part of Swan Island Networks' TIES service as a premium content provider," said Ryan Peterson, CEO of TrafficGauge. "The rich content of our real-time traffic information can positively contribute to the mission-critical and sensitive information utilized by TIES subscribers to enable and enhance more efficient decision-making when and where current traffic conditions can have a direct impact on a situation."
